Lonely Hearts float into their Spring/Summer '11 range with a soft colored palette and a whole lot of summer inspiration, getting us dreaming of all things summer!

The collection named 'ALONE' is inspired by: "a story from a National Geographic magazine published in 1978. The story, an account of one womanʼs solo outback trek with her camels influenced a series of garments that evoke this sense of desert freedom, independence and self-reliance – a story thatʼs reminiscent of the ideal Lonely Hearts woman, someone strong and free."

The sandy beiges, rusty reds and khakis teamed with an amazing digital sky print captured perfectly the environment of the outback. The shapes are as easily wearable as they are beautiful, incorporating loose shift dresses, long floaty skirts, mixtures of lace and soft leather.

Here at Belle Bird we are all super excited for the new Karen Walker range, due in store late July / early August.

Inspiration for the collection was drawn from the Northern-soul scene that had its hay-day in the mid-seventies, which pretty much consisted of young, working-class people heading out every weekend to clubs across Northern Britain to take part in intense, competitive dancing.

Walker said of the collection "I loved the idea of combining the three ways of dressing that went into the scene, There was this very working-class thing, with dockworkers' coats and caps, and then the racerback singlets that were worn for the more athletic dancing. And then, there was the super-femininity of some of the women's looks. They'd turn themselves out in their Sunday best clothes, with these full skirts that really moved on the dance floor."

We think the mix of leopard silk and industrial looking leather rules, as did the team at RUSSH shopping who popped these pics of the new collection in their 'ANIMAL' spread.

The florals are amazing too, also featuring in the new RUSSH, as well as on the cover of the latest FRANKIE mag !

Here’s a few snaps from our recent-ish Dunedin Belle Bird party with Lonely Hearts and Always Sometimes Anytime.

Held in the sweet new salon space of Aart on St Andrew, around 170 guests enjoyed cocktails courtesy of Stolen Rum and yummy Supernatural wine. 

A photographic project by Sara Orme was projected on the ceiling featuring Lonely Hearts Little bandits winter 2011 collection.
